Chris Birkett Bio 2016
Chris Birkett is a multi-talented, award winning producer,
singer/songwriter, composer and performer who has worked
with A-list artists like Sinead O’Connor, Alison Moyet, Dexy’s
Midnight Runners,Talking Heads, The Pogues, Bob Geldof,
Quincy Jones, Mel Brooks and Steve Earle.
His collaborations have sold over 100 million records and
earned three Canadian Juno’s, a Polaris Music Prize and three
international AMPEX Golden Reel Awards for excellence in the
music business.
Chris has produced and performed on four albums for Canadian
artist Buffy Sainte-Marie, including ‘Power In The Blood’ (winner
of the Polaris prize for best Canadian album and two Juno
awards for Best Aboriginal and Best Roots Album 2016) and
“Running for the Drum” (Juno award for Best Aboriginal
Recording in 2009.)
Chris began his career in his native London, moving to
Bordeaux and then Paris in the early 1990s. He came to
Canada in 2012, opened a recording studio in Toronto and
finished work on his third album “Be Creative”. Released in
2015, “Be Creative” features performances by many talented
Canadian artists including Glen Milchem (Blue Rodeo) and Rick
Emmett (Triumph).
