Kate Wolf repopularized folk music in Northern California in the 1970’s, and went on to national recognition before her untimely passing in 1986. She released her first two albums on her own Owl Records label, then joined with Kaleidoscope records for four more albums. Early on, Kate produced her own radio shows in Sonoma County (California), and even launched the Santa Rosa Folk Festival. Kate’s career reach its peak with a 1985 appearance on Austin City Limits, the soundtrack to which became one of seven posthumously released albums. Love of Kate’s music and her influence with artists is especially apparent at the annual Kate Wolf Music Festival, which began in 1996 and has continued each year to this day.
